the disc stack separator separates solids and one or two liquid phases from each other in one single continuous process, using extremely high centrifugal forces. When the denser solids are subjected to such forces, they are forced outwards against the rotating bowl wall, while the less dense liquid phases form concentric inner layers. The area where these two different liquid phases meet is called the interface position. This can be easily varied in order to ensure that the separation takes place with maximum efficiency. Inserting special plates (the "disc stack") provides additional surface settling area, which contributes to speeding up the separation process dramatically. It is the particular configuration, shape and design of these plates that make it possible for a disc stack centrifuge to undertake the continuous separation of a wide range of different solids from either one or two liquids. The concentrated solids phase formed by the particles can be removed continuously, intermittently or manually, depending on centrifuge type and the amount of solids involved in the specific application. It has advantages of high speed, smooth operating, compact structure, small footprint, all sealed of the inlet and discharge, low noise, good separation. The materials of centrifuge which contact with the parts are stainless steel which meets the requirements of food grade.
The disc separator is specially used for the two-phase and three- phase separation. The two-phase separation is to separate the suspended solid from liquid or two liquids which have the different specific gravity and are immiscible. The three-phase separation is to separate the two immiscible liquid phases and a phase of solid at the same time.
The materials are transmitted to the heart parts of this machine, the inside of the drum. Under the action of strong centrifugal force, the materials (mixed liquid) pass through the intervals of a group of disk pieces bundles, and then through the neutral hole of the disk pieces as the interface, the liquid with higher density (heavy phase) moves outward the neutral hole along the disk pieces, among which, the heavy residues accumulate in the sediment area, and the heavy phase flows to the large centripetal pump. The liquid with lower density (light phase) moves inward and upward along the disk pieces wall and gathers in the small centripetal pump. The heavy phase and light phase output by the large centripetal pump and small centripetal pump respectively.
How does Disc Separator work?

The drum is mounted on the upper end of the vertical axis, which is driven by a motor and rotates at a high speed. There is a set of disc - shaped parts that are stacked together in the drum, with a small gap among them. When the suspension (or emulsion), which is pumped into the drum by feeding tube located in the center of the drum, pass through the gap between the discs, solid particles (or droplets) would settle down to form sediment (or liquid layer) on the disc by centrifuge force, and then the sediment slid along the surface of the disc and separated from the disc to accumulate in the largest diameter of the drum. At last, the separated liquid discharged from the outlet. The disc is utilized to shorten the settling distance of solid particles or droplets, enlarge the settlement area of the drum, and improve the production capacity of the separator. The solids accumulated in the drum are removed from the drum by manual after the machine stop, or out of the drum in the case of a dregs machine without stopping.

In order to improve the slag concentration, recovery device is configured with this disc separator to the discharged sediment for reuse. For the solid concentration of the slag can be increased by 5~20 times than that of the feeding materials.
The processing capacity of the separator is up to 30t/h, which is suitable for suspension with solid phrase in diameter of 0.1~100 microns and concentration less than 10% (maximum to 25%).
